She was the daughter of Sir Josiah John Guest, and his wife, Lady Charlotte Elizabeth Bertie. She was baptized on 25 Sep 1847, in Great Canford, Dorset.

She married Edward Ponsonby, 8th Earl of Bessborough. They had six children.

She died in Piltown, County Kilkenny, and was buried in the cemetery there on 15 Oct 1919.
