Luise Henriette of Orange-Nassau (1627-1667)

German Royalty. Daughter of Frederik Hendrik of the Netherlands, granddaughter of Louise de Coligny. She was married to Elector Friedrich Wilhelm on December 7, 1646 in The Hague. She didn't like him and even refused to shake his hand at their first meeting. In 1649 she visited the village of Bötzow for the first time and loved it. The village was later given to her as a present and was renamed in her honour to Oranienburg. She built a castle there and it became her favorite place to stay. Over the years the love between the couple flourish and the marriage became very happy. She developed great influence on her husband. They traveled all over the country and rebuilt it after the destructions of the thirty years war. She founded schools and orphanages. In her gardens grew the first potatoes of the country. The pair had 6 children. Their oldest son became the first Prussian King.
