Henry H. Baer, 76, of Chambersburg, died unexpectedly on May 4, 2004 afternoon in Washington County Hospital, Hagerstown, Md.

Born on July 9, 1927, in Hagerstown, Md., he was the son of the late Henry S. and May C. (Hess) Baer.

A 1945 graduate of the former Chambersburg High School, he served with the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. Retired from TB Woods Co., Chambersburg, he had worked in the inside sales department for twenty-one years. Previously he had worked as a service manager for Shively Motors in Chambersburg for twenty-one years.

Mr. Baer was a member of Heidelburg United Church of Christ in Marion, Pa., where he actively held several offices and sang in the church choir. He also enjoyed woodworking in his spare time.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Edith (Smith) Baer, whom he married on December 9, 1950; one daughter, Susan E. Shepperd, and one grandson, Paul W. Shepperd, both of Philadelphia, Pa.; and one brother, Lowell S. Baer of Chambersburg.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Leon.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, May 8, 2004 in the chapel of the Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg. The Revs. John A. Toms and Darrell Baer will officiate. Burial at Lincoln Cemetery.
