Mra. Swen Anderson, aged 67, for many years a resident of the town of Sheridan, died Jan. 24, at her home in Prairie Farm, after a lingering illness. She had been operated on for goitre [sic] on Aug. 14 last and she never recovered.
The funeral was held on Jan. 28 from her home in Prairie Farm. Services were conducted by Rev. Rue at Zion's Lutheran church in Sheridan. Interment was made in the church cemetery.
Julia Standal was born May 10, 1857, at Nordrefron, Guldbrandsdalen, Norway. With her mother, Marit Standal, she came to America at the age of 13 years. Her father, Hans Standal, drowned when she was two years old.
She came to Coon Valley, worked in La Crosse a number of years, moved to Graytown, Dunn county, with her mother in 1874, where she made her home until her marriage to Swen Anderson, April 13, 1878.
Eight children were born to them, three of whom are dear. The living are: Alma, Herman and Jalmer, Prairie Farm; Otto, Barron; and Mabel (Mrs. Carl Christenson) of Granger, Minn.
For forty years she lived in Sheridan, moving to Prairie Farm in the fall of 1919.
Mourning her loss are her husband, Swen Anderson, for many years chairman of Sheridan; five children; one brother, John Standal, of Southern Cross. Mont., and a host of other relatives and friends.

Mrs. Swen Anderson was born in Norway, May 10, 1857, the daughter of Hans and Mary (Lillievald) Standal. The father died when the daughter was but two years old. In 1870 the mother brought the family to America. The other two children were John and Hans. They were ten weeks on the ocean aboard an old sailing boat. After landing they found their way to LaCrosse, and located in Coon Valley, Vernon County, this state. In 1874 the family came to Vance Creek in Barron County. Here she married John Hanson, who homesteaded 160 acres, and here she lived until her death in 1919 at the age of eighty-three.
