Robert Oran Younger Sr.

ODESSA Robert Oran Younger Sr., 70, passed away Friday, Jan. 3, 2003, at Medical Center Hospital in Odessa. He was born Feb. 19, 1932, to Oran Clayton and Jewel Younger in Abbott, Hill County, Texas. Robert married Mattie Alice Jones on Dec. 2, 1951, in Fort Warden,Wash., later moving to Odessa in 1953. He served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War as an Engineer in the Army Corp of
Engineers. He was president of the Kiwanis for two years, a member of the Masonic Lodge, the Andy G. Vaughan Chapter and the Scottish Rite. He enjoyed fishing with his grandchildren and camping in the summertime. He was owner of Alice Electric and a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.His parents, and one brother, Don Younger, preceded him in death.
Survivors include his wife, Mattie Younger of Odessa; two sons, Robert Oran Younger Jr. and wife Nancy of Bedford and Spencer Lee Younger and wife Nancy of Chapel Hill; two daughters, Shelia Lynn Maddox and husband Dub of Odessa and Melissa Alice Morris and husband Gary of Carrollton; one brother, George Younger of Colorado City; four sisters, Mary Ann Lieck of Odessa, Shirley Graham of Windthorist, Judy Bray of San Antonio and Sarah Beth Gainley of Donna; 20 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Services are entrusted to Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.
