THOMAS H. BARNHART
A LEIGH ENGINEER DIED LAST NIGHT
Illness of several months duration resulted last night at 12:15 o'clock in the death of Thomas H. Barnhart, at the family home, 412 York avenue. Mr. Barnhart's demise was due to a complication of diseases. He had been ailing since August, 1910, but, despite his ill health, he continued working as an engineer on the
Lehigh Valley Railroad until April of this year, when it became necessary for him to retire from active employment.
Thomas Henry Barnhart was born at Rockport, Pa., on July 13, 1859, a son of Andrew and Mary Barnhart. His parents moved to Hazleton, Pa., while he was a youth, and he secured a position as an engine wiper in the Hazelton roundhouse of the Lehigh Valley Railroad Co. He was industrious and was promoted from the various intervening positons to engineer, which position he held for forty
years. He was united in marriage to Miss Mary E. Murray, of Honesdale, who survives. Mr. Barnhart was a member of the B. of L. E. and the Hazleton Methodist Episcopal church. Besides his wife he is survived by one brother, Orlando Barnhart, of Lehighton; two sisters - Mrs. Martha Waugh, of Hazleton; and Mrs. D. T. Yost, of Scranton;
and the following children: Andrew P., of Bridgeport, Conn.; Mrs. C. W. Sax, Mrs. W. K. Stein, and Mrs. J. A. Coleman, of West Pittston; Katherine, Thomas,
Winfield, Russell, Tobias, Frank, and Joseph, at home.
The funeral will be held Monday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock from the late home. Interment will be made in West Pittston cemetery.
