Helen was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. Helen and the love of her life, Virgil, shared 60 wonderful years together.
Helen and Virgil enjoyed camping, fishing, gardening, making crafts, or playing a spirited game of cards, most of all they enjoyed these activities with family and friends. Helen and Virgil spent many hours along the rivers of Oregon and Idaho fishing, talking, and enjoying the peace that comes from spending time with ones best friend.
For Helen and Virgil the holidays were always a special time, decorating and planning for a holiday began far in advance, there was always a special activity or treat for the young and young at heart.
Over the past several years Alzheimer's robbed Helen of her memory. Virgil was at her side taking care of her, calming her, and making sure Helen was a part of every conversation and family function. Virgil was her rock and the love they shared could be seen and felt by all.
Helen was born Helen Bell Barklow to Harley and Christina Barklow on December 5, 1918 in Myrtle Point, Oregon.
Helen is survived by her loving husband, Virgil; sister, Agnes Johnson; brother, Dean Barlow; children, Rhonda Bleyer, Gary Detwiler and Charlotte Glenn. Two sons, Robert Fellows and Roy Detwiler, preceded her in death. Helen was the proud grandmother to 10 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren.
