Monroe James Thomas, 84, passed away at his home in Crossville, surrounded by his loving family on March 10, 2012. Funeral services will be held at Crossville Memorial Funeral Home, with Bro. Wattenbarger officiating. Family will receive friends from 5-9 p.m. Sunday, March 11. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Monday, March 12, with burial to follow in Thomas Cemetery in Pikeville, TN.

Mr. Thomas was born Nov. 2, 1927, in Pikeville, TN. He completed the eighth grade at Winesapp Elementary School in Pikeville. He was retired from Crossville Rubber Plant (32 years). He enjoyed gardening and was a big wrestling fan. He was a member of Bible Baptist Church.


He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Florence Thomas; first wife, Ida Lee Thomas; second wife, Edna Hedgecoth Thomas; daughter, Melba Simmons; brothers, Walter, McCoy, Roy, Merrion, Everet and Elmer; and sisters, Nellie Crawford, Vina Lea Thomas, Mamie Davis and Ollie Mae Thomas.

Crossville Memorial Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc. was in charge of the arrangements.
