Mrs. Susan Alice Manis died Monday night at the Warrensburg Clinic following a short illness. Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Sweeny Phillips chapel with the Rev. A. H. Fahe, pastor of the Baptist church, officiating.
Mrs Manis, who resided at 401 Franklin street, became ill Friday, December 11, apparently suffering a light stroke. Her daughter daughter-in-law, Mrs. Lloyd P. Manis of Louisville, Ky., arrived Thursday of last week when neighbors of Mrs. Manis notified her son of her serious illness, and her son, Lloyd P. Manis, arrived Sunday morning. Mrs. Manis was taken to the Warrenburg Clinic Monday morning night.
Susan Alice Manis, the daughter of George P. and Millie Gonce Manis, was born April 10, 1873, in North Middletown, Ky. Her parents moved to Lafayette county when she was three years old. She spent the early part of her life there. She was united in marriage in 1895 with Albert L. Manis, a veteran of the Civil War who served two years in the Union Army. Mr. and Mrs. Manis moved to a farm in Johnson county and soon afterwards moved to their home on Franklin street. Mr. Manis died August 21, 1927, in Warrensburg.
To Mr. and Mrs. Manis was born one son, Lloyd Powell Manis of Louisville, Ky. In addition to her son, she is survived by three grandchildren: Ernest Manis, a member of the United States Army Air Corps who is stationed at Buckley Field; Mrs. Morris (Verna Dell) Howard of Louisville, Ky.; and Elaine Manis of Louisville.
Mrs. Manis was a member of the Baptist church of Warrensburg.
