"A.P. 'Rags' Ragsdale of Denison will receive Distinguished Alumnus honors from Austin College Nov. 9-10 during 1990 Homecoming activities. Ragsdale, a 1938 graduate of Austin College, retired from the Denison Public Schools in 1978. He had been a teacher, coach, and principal in the Denison Schools since 1952. A member of the "A" Association, Ragsdale participated in football, track and basketball while a student at the college. Following his graduation at Austin College, he was involved in continuing studies at the University of Texas, Colorado State University, East Texas State University, and Mary Hardin Baylor. He spent four years in the U.S. Naval Reserves attached to the Marine Corps, receiving the Purple Heart with five stars, the Bronze Star, the Silver Star, and four presidential citations. Ragsdale has over 20 years service with the Boy Scouts and he is involved with Texoma Rock Hounds. He is an active member of the Presbyterian Church. "
