She grew up and received her education in Missouri. She was a student at the University of Arkansas when the outbreak of World War II started; at which time she became a Navy civilian employee in Philadelphia, Penn. After the war, she returned to Missouri, where she completed her bachelor of science degree in nursing at Drury College and went on to earn a master's degree in education, qualifying her to administer nursing schools in Springfield and Kansas City and Oklahoma City, Okla.
She is survived by her sister, Patricia Berry and her husband, Dr. Richard Berry.
