Gregory William Nielsen died unexpectedly Saturday March 3, after a brief illness. He leaves behind a wife, Rebecca Kirby Nielsen, and four children, ages 5 to 11. Greg was born July 20, 1973 in Provo, Utah to Patricia Haglund Nielsen and F. Kent Nielsen. He graduated from Timpview High School and Brigham Young University, and served an LDS mission to Seattle, Washington from 1992-1994. Greg and Becky were married April 26, 1997. Greg attended medical school at the University of Rochester (New York), where he also completed his residency. For the past seven years he served the community as a pediatrician at Utah Valley Pediatrics. He also enjoyed playing the French horn and was active in sports such as basketball and skiing.
Greg was a gentle, kind, loving father, husband, son, brother, uncle, friend and doctor. He wore a constant smile and was ever willing to help. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Greg is survived by his wife, four children, father, six siblings, and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, March 7 at 11:00 AM at the Orchard Stake Center, 800 E 600 N, Orem, Utah. Viewing for family and friends on Tuesday from 6:00 to 8:00 PM and Wednesday morning from 9:00-10:30 AM. Interment at the Orem City Cemetery.
