Daughter of W.T. and Elizabeth Whetsell Dukes. Married Rev. Dove Tiller on June 25, 1891.

Mrs. Emma Dukes Tiller, widow of the Rev. Dove Tiller of the South Carolina Methodist Conference died June 6, 1960 at the home of her daughter Mrs. Frank L. Martin. Her husband died in 1911. Mrs. Tiller had lived with Mrs. Martin for the last 35 years.

Mrs. Tiller was born in Colleton County, Feb 16, 1886, the daughter of the late W. T. and Elizabeth Whetsell Dukes. She was a graduate of Columbia College. She was a member of the Macedonia Methodist Church, the Edwards Church School Class, the Women's Society of Methodist Church, of which she was a life member, and a charter member of the Mullins Women's Christian Temperance Union. She was active in all of these until her death. Mrs. Tiller last year was honored as the Methodist Mother of the Year by the Christian Advocate.

Surviving are three daughters Mrs. Frank L. Martin, Miss Margaret Tiller of the home and Mrs. A. Spinger of Columbia; a son W. W. Tiller of Kingstree; four sisters Mrs. T. J. Hayden of Charlotte, Mrs. Minnie Dukes and Mrs. Watt E. Smith, Roweville and Mrs. W. B. Salley of Orangeburg, and 11 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren and one great great grandchildren.
