Richard G. Abdnour Sr., 62, of 107 Washington Street, prominent local businessman, succumbed unexpectedly at 7:30 a.m. today in St. Mary's Hospital about two hours after his arrival there.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in the Elias funeral home and at 10:30 a.m. in St. Anthony's church. Burial will be in St. Anthony's cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 4 p.m. Friday and Saturday morning until the time of services. The rosary will be recited at 8 p.m. Friday.

He was born August 12, 1911 in Streator, a son of Louis and Mary (Ayoub) Abdnour. He married Blanche Lyons on June 2, 1935 in Bloomington.

He was engaged in the grocery business since the age of 10, working in the family store on Baker Street and then acquiring the Highland store in 1939. He was operator of the Highland Food Market until the time of his death.

Mr. Abdnour was a member of St. Anthony's Church.

Surviving are his widow; one son: Richard of Streator; four daughters: Mary Ann (Michael) Didos of Aurora, Janet (Jacob) Morcos of Aurora,; Sharon (Rod) Elias of Peru, and Margaret Louise Abdnour of Aurora; five grandchildren; and one brother: Roy Abdnour of Streator.

One sister: Louise, and one brother: Ralph preceded him in death.
