Franklin Edward Abrahams was born March 8, 1917 at Wayne, Kan., and died February 19, 1971 at the Veterans hospital at Fort Lyon, Colo., at the age of 53 years, 11 months and 19 days. His mother is Minnie League Abrahams Frint and his father was John B. Abrahams, deceased.
He graduated from the Belleville high school and enlisted in the Marines September 24, 1940. He served in Shanghai, China and the Philippines. He was captured from the Island of Corregidor in May, 1941 and was held in a Japanese prison camp for 40 months and 12 days.
He was practically hospitalized his entire life. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and was a deacon in the Aaronic priesthood.
He was united in marriage to Mrs. Hazel Young January 19, 1958 and they made their home in Salt Lake City until December, 1964 when they moved to Colorado Springs.
Survivors are: his wife; three stepsons, Robert and Gary Young of Colorado Springs, Kenneth Young of Jena, La.; stepdaughter, Geraldine Martin of Colorado Springs; 7 grandchildren; his parents, Rev. and Mrs. J.W. Frint of Belleville; Woodrow Abrahams of Colorado Springs.
Services were held in the Chapel of Memories Mortuary with Bishop Jack H. Smith officiating. Fort Carson, Colo., united was in charge of the military service. Burial was in Memorial Gardens.
