In about October 1944, her husband was wounded in France and shipped back to the US for treatment. Huldah had been informed of his injury and return, however she didn't know which hospital he was in. She went to all of the Army hospitals searching, until she was able to locate him.
After her husband's discharged on 21 November 1945, they bought a home in Tooele, Utah. She joined The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on 27 November, 1953, in Tooele.
Huldah and Jay had one daughter and one son whom she loved very much. Huldah died far too young from complications of childbirth/deep vein thrombosis, a week after her son was born.
