Joseph Roy was the fourth born to Mary Ada (Harris) and John Andrew North in Chickasaw Nation, Indian Territory on April 28, 1904. Roy had an older brother, Homer who died in 1898, a sister, Georgia who died in 1901, and a sister, Vivian who died in 1902. He always went by the name Roy. He along with his parents and brother Walter were living in a rent house on a farm in Wilson, Oklahoma in 1910. His family was living on a farm in Morgan, Oklahoma in 1920. Roy was no longer attending school at 15 but his brother, Walter still was. Roy married Viola Walker on March 20, 1925 in Ardmore, Oklahoma. He was 21, she was 19. From 1930 to 1940, Roy and Viola were living in a rent house on a farm in Morgan, Oklahoma. Their only child, Jo Vivian was born in 1931. Roy was registered for the draft on February 16, 1942. At that time, he was self employed, weighed 175 pounds, was 6'1 with a light complexion, hazel eyes, and brown hair. In 1960, Roy and Viola were living on 315 4th Ave NE in Ardmore. Roy was an equipment operator at Lake Murray State Park. He started collecting Social Security in 1969. He died in Ardmore, Oklahoma on December 29, 1992. Roy was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers, Walter in 1985, and John Earl in 1989. He was survived by his wife, Viola, daughter Jo (North) Jackson, grandson, Tracy, two granddaughters, numerous nieces and nephews.
