Jay Lowery Byrd of McLemore Cove in Kensington died Tuesday, May 18, at his home. He was 56. He was a 1970 graduate of Berry College and worked at Brock and Blevins Steel Fabricators in Rossville before coming home to the family farm in 1984.

Survivors include his mother, Coriene Cross Byrd of Kensington; brother, Eddie "Rick" Byrd of Kensington; niece, Julie Byrd of Atlanta; nephew and wife, Jason and Derra Byrd of Kensington; dear friend, Ann Goodson of Chickamauga.
Services: Friday, May 21, at 11 a.m. in the Wallis Memorial Chapel of Wallis-Wilbanks Funeral Home with Rev. Jay Waltower officiating. Burial: Old Antioch Cemetery. Visitation: Thursday, May 20, at 7-9 p.m. at the funeral home.
