Russell Bailey passed away Monday, Feb. 2, 2015. He was born July 24, 1920, in Vanderbilt, to Daniel W. and Florence Hixon Bailey. He was predeceased by his wife of 68 years, Betty Jane Stillwagon; a brother, Clark; a grandson, Nathan Ostrowski; and a nephew, Danny Bailey. He is survived by a brother, Neil Sturgis Bailey; and a niece, Jamie Oliver. Also surviving are his daughters, Marianne Kunst (Gerard), of Bridgeville, and Kyle Jones, of Annandale, Va.; four grandsons, Aaron Ostrowski (Rainey), Major Daniel Ostrowski (Army), Stephen and Ryan Jones; a granddaughter, Jamie Moses (Carlos), of Raleigh, N.C.; five great-grandsons, Ben, Evan and Owen Ostrowski and Dylan Russell Moses. Russell was employed as a plumber with the Joe McCoy Plumbing and Heating Co. in Uniontown for 32 years. Russell was a veteran of World War II, serving in the European Theater with the 45th Division (former Oklahoma National Guard) in Headquarters Btr. Division Artillery. He was a member of the National Rifle Assiation, the American Legion, Emery Lewis Pratt Post in Vanderbilt, a board member of the Dickerson Run Union Cemetery and attended the United Methodist Church in Vanderbilt. We thank the wonderful caregivers, especially Jamie Firestone, who never said no, and Patsy Silvis, who has lovingly cared for our parents for four years, for their unfailing dedication to our family. There will be a memorial service at 11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 16, 2015, at the Vanderbilt Methodist Church with the Rev. Roger Applebee and Pastor Lee Maley officiating. In lieu of flowers, please make any donations payable to the Vanderbilt Methodist Church.
