"CONDUCT RITES FOR DELBERT CARPENTER
Services were conducted at the Evangelical church in Rapelje Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock for Delbert Carpenter, 81, resident of the Rapelje community for the past 22 years. Mr. Carpenter died Sunday morning at his home in Rapelje of infirmities due to his advanced age. The Rev. J. D. Lindley, pastor of the Rapelje Evangelical church, was in charge of the services. Funeral arrangements were under the direction of the McColley Funeral Home, Columbus.
Mr. Carpenter was born in New York state March 24, 1859. When a young man he moved with his parents to Wisconsin. In 1900 he established a home in Washington and nine years later homesteaded near Conrad, Montana. In 1918 he came to Rapelje and had made his home there since that time. He is survived by his widow, Mettie St. Peters Carpenter, to whom he was married September 5, 1882. He is also survived by six sisters and two brothers."
