Hugh was born in a small town at that time called Ridge. By 1880 he had two siblings living with him besides his parents. They were Ann B. born 1876, and Willie Whiteman born 1878. Also living with them was his father,s brother William A. born in 1850. By 1900 they had moved to ED 118 Lake City Township, Williamsburg County, South Carolina. By then four more were added to the household Daisey E. born Sep. 1880, Zachariah Randolph born March 1885, Ethel A. born Feb. 1888, and Hugh Wesley born July of 1890. After marriage about 1910 and his first wife died, whose maiden name was Brown, he moved to Rocky Mount, North Carolina.He married Rose Ella Batts about 1917. Hugh attended the church were he is buried. His first wife gave him Jessie. His second wife gave him, Frances Erline. Rose Ella is buried beside him.
