Sterling T Wallace is my 2G grandfather. His son-in-law William Baldwin (1828-1863) died April 17, 1863 at Vicksburg. Private William Baldwin likely perished in the action the night of April 16/17 when General U.S. Grant's gunboats successfully got past the Confederate defenses at Vicksburg. William's wife Mary Ann Wallace was the eldest daughter of Sterling T Wallace.
