"Texas Patriot's Descendent Dies - VAN ALSTYNE, Texas, Oct. 31. - Jack H. McKinney, 82, descendent of a Texas patriot, died Sunday morning after a two-month illness. He was the great-grandson of Collin McKinney, signer of the Texas Declaration of Independence, for whom the town of McKinney and County of Collin were named. The Rev. Tom Lenox will officiate at services at the First Christian Church of Van Alstyne at 10 a.m. Monday, and burial will be in Van Alstyne Cemetery. Survivors include two sons, Hershal McKinney, Dallas, and Ward McKinney, Sherman; two brothers, John McKinney, McKinney, and Tom McKinney, Fort Worth; ten grandchildren and a great-grandchild."
