Part of his life he lived 6 miles
from his church, but he often had

meetings; and one occasion there
were about 30 conversions in one
week. He had been afflicted for
a number of years. During his
last great suffering he expressed
himself as being ready to depart
and be with Christ We can say
of him as of one of old: 'Blessed
are the dead who die in the Lord;
yea, saith the Spirit, that they
may rest from their labors, and
their works do follow them."

"Over the turbid and on-rushing tide
Doth the light of eternity gleam,
And the ransomed the darkness and
storm shall outstride,
To wake with glad smiles from their
dream,
Only a dream, and glory beyond the
dark stream;
How peaceful the slumber, the waking
how happy.
For death is only a dream."
