Mary Ada was born to Julia Ann (Miskelly) and James Lewis Harris in Clear Spring, Arkansas on September 16, 1880. Ada of Sunset, Texas was wed to John of Alvord, Texas on Saturday, June 28, 1896 at 10 o'clock. Reverend Jim Williams officiated. Mrs. Anna Morgan and Lee Polson were witnesses to this joyful event. John and Ada moved to the Ardmore, Oklahoma area after they were married. Ada's first son, Homer Lee was born in 1897. Sadly he passed away in 1898. In 1900, John and Ada, 19 were living in Indian Territory (Oklahoma) with their first born daughter, Georgia Velma. Sadly Georgia passed away in 1901. In 1910 John and Ada were living in Wilson, Oklahoma with sons, Roy and Walter. John and Ada were living in Morgan, Oklahoma with Roy and Walter in 1920 and 1930. On April 10, 1940, John and Ada were living on Hoxbar Route in Morgan with their son, John Earl. Walter, Edith, J.D., and Don North were either living with them or were next door. They were renting a house with a value of $3.00. Ada completed 7th grade.

In 1947, John and Ada were part of an "Old timers" Celebration. Settlers who came to Ardmore in the days when the town was young and who were still residents of Ardmore attended the town's 60th birthday party on July 28. The community band played, a concert and a big square dance concluded the celebration.
Ada had been ill for some time. Sadly, she passed away on Saturday, October 13, 1957 in Ardmore.
