Marshall Sullivan Singletary, son of Thomas Nathan Singletary and Catherine Cecilia Booty.

The 1900 US-Census for Ward 7 Provencal village, Natchitoches Parish, Louisiana list: Thomas Singletary age 31, Married-Head of Household-Farmer, wife Sicily age 29, and three children; Marshall age 7, Archie age 6, and Annie age 4. All listed born in Louisiana.

The 1910 US-Census for Police Jury Ward 7, Natchitoches Parish, Louisiana list: Robert Singletary age 63, Married-Head of Household, and his wife Nancy J. age 64. Also listed is daughter Ada A. age 36, son Asa age 23, and grandson Marshall Singletary age 16.

Marshall married his 1st wife, Lena Pridgen the daughter of John Gunsell Pridgen and Jennie Thomason. They were married on October 14th, 1916 in Shelby County, Texas. They had one known child together, a daughter (name unknown) was born at 10:00 PM on December 19th, 1917 in Shelbyville, Shelby County, Texas. Their daughter's birth certificate list Marshall's occupation as being in the Army.

At age 22, Marshall registered for the WW Draft on June 5th, 1917 in Center, Shelby County, Texas. Marshel S. Singletary age 22 years 11 months, residing in Shelbyville, was inducted into Military Service on September 19, 1917 at Center, Shelby County, Texas. Organization served: US-Army Texas National Guard, Machine Gun Company, 143 Infantry Regiment, to January 20, 1918; Repl Dep Infantry AEF to discharge. Grades, with dates of appointment: Pvt 1 cl, February 20, 1918; Corp, June 25, 1918; Sgt, October 3, 1918. Served overseas from July 18, 1918 to May 31, 1919 with no wounds or injuries received in action. Honorable discharged on June 14, 1919 with 0% (per cent) disabled. Army serial number: 1,494,343.

Also listed are six Boarders; William Wimberly age 20 TX, Tom Singletary age 48 LA (Marshall's father, not employed), Jim Bob Harvey age 20 TX, Garret Parker age 19 AK, George Cannon age 30 LA, and AF Wilson age 46.
