Alberta Premier. Stewart served as the Premier of Alberta from 1917 to 1921. Stewart also served as a Member of the Legislative Assembly of Alberta in 1909, Minister of Municipal Affairs from 1912 to 1913, Minister of Public Works from 1913 to 1917, Member of the Sifton Government from 1913 to 1917, President of the Executive Council, Minister of Railways and Telephones from 1917 to 1921, Acting Minister of Immigration and Colonization from 1921 to 1923, Minister of the Interior and Mines from 1921 to 1926, General Superintendent of Indian Affairs from 1921 to 1926, Minister of the Interior from 1921 to 1930, Represented Edmonton West in the elections of 1925, 1926, and 1930, but was defeated in 1935, and Chairman of the Canadian Section of the International Joint Commission until his death on December 6, 1946
