Amory – John Stephen "Steve" Hatcher, 48, died on Saturday, February 11, 2012, at his brother's residence. Born on August 30, 1963, in Amory, he was a son of John E. and Eva Mae Strawhorne Hatcher.
Steve was a graduate of Amory High School, Class of 1982. For twenty years, he built furniture in the local furniture industry. After this, Steve worked at True Temper until finding the work he enjoyed the most that allowed him to be outdoors, driving a log truck. He was Baptist. An outgoing and hard-working person who had a big heart, Steve's life revolved around his family, especially his grandchildren. He enjoyed helping others, being outdoors hunting and fishing, spending time with his family, and riding four-wheelers.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 1 PM, Tuesday, February 14 at E. E. Pickle Funeral Home with Bro. Ronnie Sutton and Bro. Kevin Crook officiating. Burial will be in Coontail (New Hope) Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Chris Ford, Derik Anderson, Richard Armstrong, Gary Wouldridge, Aaron Parker, and Dylon Parker. Honorary pallbearer will be Danny Jones.
Visitation will be from 5 – 8 PM, Monday at the funeral home.
He is survived by his parents, John and Eva Mae Hatcher, Wren; sons, Josh Hatcher (Sarah), Amory and Brandon Hatcher (Leigh Lynn), Wren; step-children, Chelsea, Emily, and Kimberly Anderson, and Derik Anderson, all of Amory; brothers, Jerry Hatcher (Linda), Amory and Jamie Hatcher (Sandy), Wren; grandchildren, Hailee and Elizabeth Hatcher, Jaiden Hatcher, and Cameron and Riley Anderson; and nieces and nephew, Justin, Lesley, and Kortney Hatcher.
He was preceded in death by wife, Linda Sue Hatcher in 1998.
