Bruce Albert Petty, 79, August 14, 1932 - February 7, 2012, resident of Excel, Alabama and Jacksonville, Florida has gone to join his son, Phillip, with our Lord after a lengthy illness.

He was one of four children to the late Bernard and Jewel Petty and was the beloved husband of Bobbie Ann Petty for 59 years. He will forever be remembered by his sisters, Jeanette, Alice and Toni; sons, Randy and Don (Mary Alice); daughter, Kay (Fred); daughter in law-Cheryl; grandchildren, Craig, Matt, Heather, Rachel, Faith and Erica; great-grandchild, Abbigail and countless other friends and family who were blessed to know him.

Bruce was a Master Chief in the Navy proudly serving his country for 20 years. Following his Naval career, he continued to serve his country at Mayport Naval Station working for Supship Jax until his retirement. Among his favorite things were clockmaking and gardening, but his greatest joy was spending time with his family, including his church family at Terry Parker Baptist Church.

Friends and family are invited to attend a Celebration of his Life, 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, February 14, at Terry Parker Baptist Church, 7024 Merrill Road, Jacksonville, FL. 32277, with Pastor Howard Goodwin officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at the Jacksonville National Cemetery with full Naval Honors. In lieu of flowers the family ask that memorials go in his name to Terry Parker Baptist Church.
