Actor. Born in Los Angeles, California, he was most noted for his recurring role as Cabot Cove Mayor Sam Booth on the TV series "Murder She Wrote" and as a panel member on the game show "Match Game". Performing mainly on television, his many credits include "M*A*S*H", "Carter Country", "Hail to the Chief", "Full House" and "Roseanne". For feature films he appeared in "Exorcist II: The Heretic" (1977), "Eating Raoul" (1982), "Beanstalk" (1994) and "The People vs. Larry Flynt" (1996). He also had a MA in psychology, was a licensed marriage and family therapist, and served on the Mental Health Advisory Board to the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisor. He died of cancer at age 58 in Studio City, California.
