Mary Cathaleen Hensley, 85, of Elkton passed away, Wednesday, February 8, 2012 at Rockingham Memorial Hospital.

Mrs. Hensley was born August 29, 1926 in Rockingham County, and was the daughter of the late Ree O. and Mary Ella Breeden. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Eugene Hensley; brothers, Otis Eppard, Carson Eppard, Alvie Breeden, Charmin Breeden and Elmer Breeden; sisters, Ruby Snow, Thelma Haney, Ora Dean and Virginia Shifflett.

Mrs. Hensley was a lifelong resident of the area, and was a homemaker who enjoyed cooking and having meals with her family, flowers and gardening. She loved her husband, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, family and friends. She will be greatly missed by all.

On July 14, 1943 she married Norman Lee Hensley, who survives. Also surviving is a son, Ricky Hensley and wife, Teresa of Elkton; daughters, Elizabeth Merica and husband, Walter, and Shelvia Williams and husband, Rocky, all of Elkton; daughter-in-law, Joyce Hensley of Elkton; grandchildren, Eric Hensley, Kimberly Shifflett, Kevin Hensley, Amy Shifflett, R.G. Williams, Heather Hensley, Ashley Hensley and Mary Jane Leonard; great-grandchildren, Aaron, Megan, and Michael Hensley, Dakota, Austin, and Haylie Shifflett, Eric, Tabithia, Kaitlyn and Harley Leonard; four great-great-grandchildren, and one on the way.

A funeral service will be held 2:00 Saturday, February 11, 2012 at the Kyger Funeral Home Chapel in Elkton, with Pastor Don Leatherman officiating. Burial will follow at Eastlawn Memorial Gardens near Harrisonburg.

The family will receive friends on Friday evening from 6~8 at the funeral home in Elkton. Friends may also call at the home of her daughter, Elizabeth, at anytime.
