OBITUARY
Mrs. Ray J. Sebree, public administrator for Cass County, died suddenly in her home, 801 North Lexington Avenue, Harrisonville, about 10:30 Sunday morning, July 22.
Mrs. Sebree, 60, was convalescing from an illness starting in October, 1961, due to a series of heart attacks. After being hospitalized here several months she had recovered sufficiently to permit her being returned home. Her death, in the dining room, was unexpected.
Mrs. Sebree was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, Harrisonville. The rosary was recited in the Runnenburger Chapel at 8 o'clock Tuesday evening, the last rite being in Our Lady of Lourdes Church at 9 o'clock Wednesday morning, July 25. The officiants were Father M. A. McBrien of Raytown, Missouri, formerly pastor here, and Father Walter William Puetz, present pastor.
Casket bearers were Basil V. Jones, Tom Parsons, George W. Todd, G. J. Smith, W. M. Kimberlin, Willard McGowen. Burial was in Orient Cemetery, a Mile northeast of this city.
Mrs. Sebree was the former Vera Nadine James, her birth July 4, 1902, being in Noel, McDonald County, Missouri Her parents were Robert James and Blanche (Moseley) James. On July 28, 1923, she and Ray J. Sebree were married. They made their home in Kansas City until 1925 when they moved to a farm near Strasburg seven years before moving to Harrisonville, which has been their home since. They owned and operated the apartment house on North Lexington Avenue.
Always active in Democratic circles, Mrs. Sebree was elected public administrator in 1956, which office she held at the time of their death. She was unopposed in the 1960 general election. Mrs. Sebree also was active in her church. A facet of her character was her impelling urge to be of assistance to those in time of extremity.
Mrs. Sebree was the mother of two sons, Bobby Joe of Harrisonville and Bill Birch of Kansas City. Besides the sons she is survived by her husband, Ray J. Sebree, of the home; a sister, Mrs Bernice Keithley, Ruskin Heights, Missouri ,, and a brother, Roy James, west of Harrisonville.
