He was born July 10, 1921, in Limestone, Maine, the son of Harry S. Sr. and Hannah E. (Peers) Ballard.
He graduated in 1938 from Limestone High School.
Mr. Ballard served in the U.S. Coast Guard in the Pacific during World War II.
He married Marion C. Clark Feb. 6, 1943, in North Springfield.
He was employed as a heat treat engineering technician at Fellows Gear Shaper for 32 years, retiring in 1983.
Mr. Ballard was a member of Advent Christian Church in North Springfield.
He was a gunsmith, a woodworker, and he enjoyed gardening and hunting.
Survivors include his wife of North Springfield; a daughter, Brenda Streeter of Snowflake, Ariz.; a granddaughter and two great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was predeceased by three sisters and a brother.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 8, at the Davis Memorial Chapel in Springfield.
The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 9, at Advent Christian Church in North Springfield, with the Rev. Floyd McIntyre, pastor, officiating.
Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery in North Springfield.
