Marvin S. Lam passed away on February 6, 2012 at his home in Harrisonburg.

He was born September 19, 1919 in Rockingham County, and was the son of the late Ira Cleveland Lam Sr. and Anne Smith Lam.

Mr. Lam was the owner and operator of Marvin S. Lam Grain Inc. Trucking Firm and Circle L. Farm, where he raised beef cattle and crops. He was a member of the Harrisonburg Elks.

On November 29, 1944, he married Phyllis Newman Lam, who passed away on October 20, 2005.

He is survived by a son; Phillip Marvin Lam and wife, Sue of Harrisonburg; a daughter, Donna Lam Bridges and husband, Larry of Broadway; three Granddaughters, Jenny B. Czerwinski and husband, Rick of Fishersville, Karman L. Derrow and husband, Richard of New Market, Summer L. Long and husband, David of Harrisonburg; nine great grandchildren, Jacob, Alex, Emily Czerwinski, Coty, Ty and Lexi Derrow, and Lilly, Ava and Gage Long.

He also was preceded in death by three brothers, Howard Lamb, Harman Lamb and Ira C. Lam Jr.; three sisters, Charlotte Rodeffer, Myrtle Snell and Mary Fires.

The family will receive family and friends from 7~8 pm (today) Wednesday at the Kyger Funeral Home in Harrisonburg. The Casket will remain closed.

A private burial will be at Rest Haven.

In Lieu of Flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to the Rockingham – Harrisonburg S.P.C.A. at P.O. Box 413 Harrisonburg, VA 22803 or to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital 262 Danny Thomas Place Memphis, TN 38105.
