Resided in Anson Co. and enlisted in Wake Co. at age 35, Sept. 2, 1862 for the war. Present or accounted for until wounded in the left shoulder and captured at Winchester, Virginia, September 19, 1864. Hospitalized at Winchester. Transferred to hospital at Baltimore, Maryland, where he arrived on October 16, 1864. Transferred to Point Lookout, Maryland, where he arrived on October 1864. Paroled on or about October 30, 1864. Received at Venus Point Savannah River, Georgia, November 15, 1864 for exchange. (Roll of Honor indicates he was wounded near New Bern, NC on unspecified date. [Company H 43rd Reg NCT Vol. X Infantry].

Beverly's Company, from Anson County, acknowledge the receipt of Fifty Dollars, each fron Assistant Quarter Master and Paymaster W.B. Gulich it being the BOUNTY due us under the ordinance of the Convention of North Carolina, by which we have been mustered into service, _____ day of ____ 1862.
