In April 1969, she married Henry Barber of Atkins, who was attending school @ Tech at the same time. After being married for awhile, the couple moved to New Orleans, where Henry took a job teaching history. In 1977 they moved to Baton Rouge, where Glenda took a job as a legal secretary and Henry went to work for the Social Security Administration, and later for the USDA. They had one son, Adam, born in September 1978 in Baton Rouge, who currently lives in the North Texas area. After moving to Texas in 1981, while Henry continued his career with the USDA, Glenda furthered her legal career, joining DAPA and earning her Registered Paralegal certification while working for several prominent Dallas area law firms and corporations such as Haynes & Boone and the Trammell Crow Company, and ended up at EXCO Resources as a senior corporate paralegal working in the Oil & Gas industry.
Glenda's hobbies included singing, musicals, playing the piano, church choir @ First United Methodist Church, collecting sports cards and antiques, classic cars, watching sports, and cooking. A huge sports fan, especially of hockey, she & Henry were Dallas Stars season ticket holders, and she was a Razorback Fanatic as well as rooting for the Texas Rangers & Dallas Cowboys. She passed away unexpectedly in 2010 at the too-young age of 61 due to cardiac complications arising from Relapsing Polychondritis (RP) with subglottic stenosis, an autoimmune disease which she had been bravely fighting for the last decade. She was survived in death by her husband Henry (d. 2015) and son Adam; and preceded in death by her mother Marjorie & father Norwood.
I dedicate this - In Memoriam - to a wonderful mom who left this Earth to join our Heavenly Father much, much too soon.
With eternal love, your son, Adam, 23 May 2017.
