Mildred Alice Scott Blank, age 94, of Indianapolis, passed away Thursday, January 19, 2012.
She was born February 25, 1917, in Scircleville, Indiana, to the late Everett and Lucinda Cooper Scott.
She graduated from Scircleville High School in 1934. While living in Scircleville, she worked as a telephone operator and taught violin at the high school. She also played in a violin ensemble with other players from the Scircleville and Frankfort area.
On December 23, 1939, she married Frederick E. Blank in Scircleville. She lived in Wayne Township, Indianapolis, for the past 72 years, where she taught piano while living in Clermont and Ben Davis.
Mrs. Blank was a member of Mount Olive United Methodist Church, where she belonged to the United Methodist Women and the Sunshine Circle, and was also active in the Wayne Township Historical Society.
Her hobbies included knitting and crocheting, gardening, working crossword puzzles, and playing cards.
She is survived by sons, Scott (Connie) Blank, Kurt Blank, and Jeffry (Kathy) Blank; daughters, Susan (Al) Stout, and Carole (Tim) Sparks; daughter-in-law, Janet Blank; son-in-law, Jim Furnas; 13 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Lucia Furnas; son, Peter Blank; and daughter-in-law, Norma Blank.
Thanks are extended to the caring staff at Lakeview Manor where she resided the last six years.
Calling will be on Friday, January 27, 2012, in Conkle Fu neral Home, Speedway Chapel, from 4 to 8 p.m. Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, January 28, 2012 at the funeral home.
Burial will be in West Ridge Park Cemetery.
