Alice M. Gipe, 90, a resident at the Shippensburg Health Care Center and formerly of Roxbury, died Monday, January 23, 2012 in the Chambersburg Hospital.
Born Wednesday, August 3, 1921 in Chambersburg, she was a daughter of the late David N. and Vera Elizabeth Bittinger Davis.
Alice was a member of the Living Faith Chapel, Shippensburg.
Surving are her husband of 70 years, Irvin Jackson Gipe of Shippensburg, two daughters, Dorothy L. Gabert of New Bloomfield and Darlene E. Zaring of Newport, two sons, David W. Gipe of Trenton, TN and Robert G. Gipe of Newville, two sisters, Nora Bargess of St Thomas and Betty Gher of Mercersburg. Also surviving are 17 grandchildren, 32 great grandchildren and 5 great-great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son Bruce L. Gipe, one brother and one sister.
Funeral Services will be held Thursday, January 26, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. in the Living Faith Chapel 8770 Possum Hollow Road, Shippensburg, with Pastor Eldon J. Martin officiating. Burial will be in Otterbein Cemetery. A viewing will be held one hour prior to the service in the Church.
