Hazel Ann Moore is the daughter of Jesse Robert Moore and Florence Mildred Moore (nee Taylor). She married Leonal James Wells.

The Press Democrat of Santa Rosa, California published January 17, 2007:

WELLS, Hazel Annie
Passed away peacefully with family by her side January 16, 2007.
Hazel was born March 11, 1908 in Sebastopol, California, the third of four daughters born to Jesse and Florence Moore.
Hazel was the granddaughter of Henry Taylor, who with his brother John was among the early settlers of Santa Rosa in the mid-1800's after traveling by covered wagon from Virginia. Her great uncle John Shackleford Taylor was a leading citizen of early Santa Rosa, the first subscriber to the Press Democrat and for whom Taylor Mountain is named.
Hazel graduated from Analy High School and later Santa Rosa Junior College in 1928. In 1929, she graduated from San Jose State, (then known as State Teacher's College) and started a career as a teacher. It was through her teaching connection that she met her future husband, Leo Wells on a blind date. They were married in 1932 and lived in Tulelake, California during the early years of their marriage where they had two daughters, Vonna and Junis. The family later moved to 1901 Fourth Street and enjoyed 43 years of marriage until Leo's death in 1973. Hazel continued to live there until 1988 at which time she moved to Sunrise Assisted Living on Chanate Road in Santa Rosa where she enjoyed the staff and friends she made as well as the many social activities, including her favorite pasttime, Bingo.
Hazel is survived by her loving daughters, Vonna Holz of Santa Rosa and Junis McCarty of Oakland, CA, her beloved son in law, Robert McCarty of Oakland, and her grandchildren, Mark Holz of Antioch, CA, Debra McCarty-Gregory of Warrick, RI, Julie Fleckenstein of Susanville, CA, Carol McCarty of Oakland, CA and eight great grandchildren.
Friends and family are invited to attend a graveside service Thursday, January 18, 2007 at 1:00 p.m. at Santa Rosa Memorial Park, 1900 Franklin Avenue, Santa Rosa.
Arrangements under the care of Santa Rosa Morguary Eggen & Lance Chapel, 707-545-3747.
