OBITUARY :
PHILIP EDGAR ADAMS, 79, of Martinsburg, was received by his Lord in his Heavenly home, January 17, 2012.

He was born May 23, 1932 to the late Charles Humphry Adams and Ethel Chaney Adams in Springfield, West Virginia.

Phil was a graduate of Romney High School and Hagerstown Junior College. He retired from E. I. DuPont as a mechanical engineer with 38 years of service. He was a veteran of the U. S. Army serving during the Korean War.

He was a member of Little Falls Presbyterian Church serving as Elder, Clerk of the Session, Bible School Teacher and Adult Sunday School Teacher for more than 40 years. Phil also served on numerous committees throughout the Shenandoah Presbytery and created the design and plans for the church education building.

He was a faithful servant who loved his Lord, family and church. His spirit was one of gentleness, kindness and love.

Phil is survived by daughters, Cindy and husband, Carlton "Cootsie" DeHaven, of Martinsburg, and Donna Fitch, of Falling Waters, son Roy Adams, of Newport News, Virginia; granddaughter, Heather Golden and husband, Jason; great-granddaughters, Kirsten and Kailin Golden, of Falling Waters. He is also survived by his mother-in-law, Marion Cook, of Marlowe.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Rebecca Adams; sisters, Reba Rinker and Linda Davis, and brother, Charles Daniel Adams.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, January 21, 2012, at Brown Funeral Home with the Rev. Carl D. Howard and the Rev. Andrew L. Snelson officiating. Interment will be held at Harmony Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday, January 20th at the funeral home.
