Joseph Andrew Baumeister, age 71, of 803 St. Louis Road, Fulton, Missouri, died December 8, 1955 at his home.
Dr. E.R. Gish pronounced death caused by Coronary Occusion, Coronary Arteriosclerosis and mild hypertension. Informant was his wife.
Joseph was born April 20, 1884, in Brussels, Calhoun County, Illinois, the son of Henry and Cunegonda Georgia Kramer.
When Joe was four years old he moved with his parents from Illinois to Poplar Bluff, Missouri. He attended the public schools there. He also learned the bakery business there.
Joe and his first wife, Laura, had three sons, Joseph Andrew Baumeister Jr., Robert Roe Baumeister and Kenneth Baumeister. Laura died at age 28 on August 21, 1916, in Dexter, Missouri.
Joe and Clara Gertrude Zimmer were married in 1922, in St. Louis, Missouri. They were in the bakery business in St. Louis, Missouri for several years, then moved to Dexter, Missouri. They had a bakery business for a few years. Joe and Clara moved from Dexter to Fulton in 1933.
The first Baumeister Bakery was located on Market Street. A few years later they bought Marline's Bakery on the cornor of 5th and Nichols Street, where the bakery continued until 1967.
To the union of Joseph and Clara two children were born. They are Rodger (Marianna Murphy) Baumeister who lives in Fulton and Joy Ann (George) Wachtel of Pleasant Grove, New York. They survive along with Joseph Andrew Baumeister Jr. of St. Louis. Also surviving are six grandchildren.
Joseph was preceeded in death by his parents, first wife and two sons, Robert Roe Baummeister and Kenneth Baumeister, two brothers, Henry C. Baumeister and Peter August Baumeister.
