Eleanor A. Abrams, age 91, of Middleton, passed away on Friday Jan. 13, 2012 in Rhinelander. She was born March 14, 1920 in Sterling, Ill., the daughter of Jacob and Alice (Marten) Rankin. Eleanor married Bryce A. Abrams in 1949, he preceded her in death in 1977.
She is a member of St. Luke's Lutheran Church. Eleanor received her registered nurse diploma from the Swedish American Hospital in Rockford, Ill. in 1941. She worked as a nurse for 23 years at Rest Haven Nursing Home, retiring at age 75. Eleanor was an avid reader and enjoyed gardening.
She is survived by her son, Bruce Abrams of Rhinelander; grandsons, Evan Abrams of Appleton, Ian Abrams of Rhinelander, Ethan Abrams of Appleton and Nathan Abrams of Rhinelander; great-granddaughter, Leah of Appleton. Eleanor was preceded in death by her brother, James Rankin in 2005.
Funeral services will be held at ST. LUKE'S LUTHERAN CHURCH, 7337 Hubbard Ave. Middleton, at 11 a.m., on Wednesday Jan. 18, 2012, with Rev. Roger Eigenfeld officiating. Burial will be at Sunset Memory Gardens.
Visitation will be at the funeral home, from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m., on Tuesday, Jan. 17, 2012, and also at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of service on Wednesday. Memorials may be made in Eleanor's name to St. Luke's Lutheran Church.
