Married Evelina Acuff on 10 Aug 1946.∼Arthur Arlis "Tuck" Long, 82, of Berryville, died Sept. 1, 2003, at Eureka Springs Hospital. He was born on Oct. 13, 1920, in Carroll County, the son of John Preston and Susan Elizabeth (Duncan) Long.
He was a veteran, having served with the United States Army during World War II. He later became a dozer operator and a farmer. Mr. Long was an excellent gardener and a generous one, sharing his produce with friends and relatives. He also had a great love for hunting and fishing, and passed that love on to his children and grandchildren.
On Aug. 10, 1946, Mr. Long was married to the former Evelina Acuff, who survives him of the home. He is also survived by a daughter, Judy Mosley, and her husband Bill, of Kensett, Ark.; a son, John Long, and his wife Betty, of Berryville; his sister, Ruth Blevins, of Berryville; 15 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Susan Long; two sons, Jack Long and Jerry Long; two brothers, Arlie Long and Johnny Long; and three sisters, Levonia Shockley, Oma Darby and Nona Beal.
Funeral serves were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Sept., 3, at the Charles M. Nelson Memorial Chapel with Hank Frahn officiating. Interment was in Hale Cemetery under the direction of Nelson Funeral Service.
