Mason C. Ogg passed away on December 23 at the Pella Community Hospital. He was a lifelong resident of Jasper County except for his high school and college years when the family moved to Des Moines.

The son of William M. and Harriet Churchill Ogg, he was graduated from Des Moines College in 1901 and then returned to the family farm where he remained until his death.

He was united in marriage to Olive Woodard at Osage in 1903. Five children were born to this union.

Mr. Ogg became a member of the Monroe Baptist Church as a young man.

Surviving him are two children, Wallace Ogg of Ames and Mrs. Robert (Frances) Beesley of Monroe; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; and a sister, Mrs. Ethel Carey of Newton.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Olive; and three children, two of whom died in infancy and a daughter, Helen, who died at the age of sixteen.

Funeral services for Mr. Ogg were held Monday, Dec. 28, at the Monroe Baptist Church with Rev. Wayne K. Anderson officiating. Mr. and Mrs. Devayne Honnold sang “The Old Rugged Cross” accompanied by Mrs. Wayne K. Anderson.
Casket bearers were Devayne Honnold, Bernard Zerley, Bill Warrick, Forrest Nearmyer, Elmo Blackledge and Willis Nearmyer. Interment was in Monroe Silent City Cemetery.
