Clarence was the son of George Clarence Franklin (1880-1967) and Edna Belle Keller (1881-1957). Clarence was a heavy cigar smoker which caused his death from throat cancer. He was survived by his wife, Pearl Mable Ackley-Franklin, his two sons Douglass (Duke) Elwood Franklin and Lawrence George Franklin, granddaughter Tammie Lynn Franklin, brother Douglass Kenneth Franklin.
