Funeral services for Edwin L. Mark, who died at the home of his daughter R.L. Orr at Altoona, Polk County, Iowa August 4, were held Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Knoxville Methodist church conducted by Rev. O. G. Orcutt and assisted by the F.D. Moore. Burial in Graceland cemetery, Knoxville.

Edwin Leroy Mark son of John and Dorothy Ann Coons Mark was born in Fayette County, Ohio, July 16, 1853 and died August 4, 1933 at the age of 85 years and 18 days. He was the eldest of 12 children.

He came with his parents to Iowa in 1854 at the age of 18 months and settled a mile east of Attica in Marion county, where he lived until his marriage. He received his education in the schools of Marion county and united with the Methodist church at Attica when a young man.

He was united in marriage to Miss Jemima E. Priaulx, December 25, 1877 at the home of her parents near Attica. To this union were born six children, four sons, Frank A. of Garvin, Minn, Guy A. who died March 14, 1934, Charles A Of Auburn, Wish, Pearl of Attica, and two sisters, Mrs. Ethel J Bittenbender and Myrtle A. Orr of Altoona.

Mr. and Mrs. Mark made there home in and near Attica until they retired from farming and moved to Knoxville a number of years ago. Their home was always a home of prayer and thanksgiving. Their loyalty and devotion to each other , their family and their church was unsurpassed as were their help to neighbors and friends in sickness and trouble. They were a great blessing to the community in which they lived.

They lived together 57 Years, celebrating their 57th wedding Anniversary one month before Mrs. Mark's death on January 25, 1935.

Since her death Mr. Mark has made his home with his daughter Myrtle Orr in Altoona, making frequent visits to his daughter Ethel in Knoxville and his son Frank in Minnesota.

Mr. Mark was a devoted husband, a kind and loving grandfather. He lived a Christian life at the time of his death and was a member of the Methodist church.
