Farmer, never married. Had 2 children with Ada Virginia Smith; they were Herbert Smith who died of typhoid in WWI(2/16/1896-2/16/1918)and Rosa Alice Smith (1898-1986 who married George McKinley Brown on 11/4/1917 and they had 8 children). JC's father was Lewis Cudd (1820-1901) his mother was Anca / Ankie (Anthoret) Steadman (1822-1900) who seems to have been born in Rutherford County NC

FUNERAL SERVICE CONDUCTED FOR CALLOWAY CUDD
BARNARDSVILLE - Oct. 1, (Special) - Funeral services for Calloway Cudd, 70, of Democrat, who died suddenly at his home Friday, were conducted at the home Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock with the Rev. W. L. Edwards, assisted by the Rev. D. T. Huss, and the Rev. Mr. Lovett, officiating. Interment was in Holcombe cemetery.
Active pallbearers were: Carl and Ralph McMahan, Hubert and James Hensley, and Dean and Edward Carter. Honorary pallbearers were: Jack Buckner, J. G. Holcombe, Ralph Sawyer, Thomas and Len Hensley, Emery David, S. H. and Thomas Carter, Nat and Vestal Lovin, Lee Arrowood, William Wallin, Jack Riddle, and John and William Clouse.
Mr. Cudd is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Rose (Smith) Brown; two grandchildren( note this number is incorrect), of Democrat; two sisters, Mrs. Lou Cudd Sutherland, of Democrat, and Mrs. Trantham, of Tennessee, and several nieces and nephews.
