MARGARET ANN "ANNIE" TOMLIN PENCE was the daughter of Jamison P. and Eliza Ann Clay Tomlin.

Annie's brothers and sisters were- Honor Tomlin, Mary Jane Tomlin Haywood, Henry Tomlin, Thomas Tomlin, Isom Tomlin, John McClellan Tomlin, Letitia C. Tomlin Lewis, Isaac A. Tomlin and Lucinda "Sinda" Tomlin Whitt.

Annie was united in marriage with Joseph W. Pence, son of Peter and Elizabeth Jane Cook Pence, on 15 May, 1878, in Boyd County, Kentucky. They were the parents of nine known children, Joseph "Joe" Pence Jr., Julia Pence Rowe Porter of Lucasville, Ohio, Honor Pence, who married Dock Whisman, John Cleveland Pence (my grandfather) who lived at Quincy, Lewis County, Kentucky, George Warren Pence of Lucasville, Ohio, Rosa Jane "Rosie" Pence who married Elbert Collier, Peter Pence, who served during WWI, Louie Pence of Lucasville, Ohio, and Earl Pence, who at age 29, died of lobar pneumonia.

Annie's husband, Joseph Pence Sr., died suddenly on March 10 of 1929 of apoplexy, a stroke. Sometime during the 1930's Annie and her son Pete, who was injured and shell-shocked from his service during WWI, moved to Quincy, Lewis County, Kentucky and they lived nearby her son, John Cleveland "Cleve" and his family for a few years.

Annie was a homemaker, she died on 28 June of 1940, age 83 years, 11 months and 6 days, of "myocardial degeneration & hepatic sclerosis-onset." She was widowed at her death and was living with her daughter, Honor Whisman at Lucasville, Ohio. Annie was returned to Carter County, Kentucky and buried at the Ratcliff Cemetery, along side her husband, Joseph Pence Sr.
