Richard Edward Stephan II:
Born: 26 August 1956, at Oak Knoll Naval Hospital, Alameda County, California, the son of Richard Edward and Mary Ann (Meek) Stephan. His father was serving on active duty in the U. S. Navy.

Six days after Ricky’s 4th birthday, he and his sister, Teri, stood behind their mother who answered the door to a Western Union telegram telling of his father’s death in South Vietnam.
Almost two years later, Ricky was pleased to stand beside his sister as she lit candles in a chapel of their Methodist church for the wedding of his mother and Robert Edmund Buswell, USN.
Rick is a graduated of Cypress Lake High School – Class of 1974 - Fort Myers, Florida
During his 5 years in the US Navy 1974 - 1979, as an Aviation Electrician 2nd class, he attended various navy schools and spent time at sea aboard the USS Saratoga on a Mediterranean Cruise including touring Egypt and other Middle Eastern countries.
He attended Gulf Coast Community College 1981 - 1982 (now Gulf Coast State) – on the Dean’s List - Panama City, Florida
Rick enjoyed reading, socializing with friends, dating young ladies, dancing, smoking pot, playing his guitar and singing along, scuba diving, snorkeling, and playing Acey-Deucy, a navy form of Backgammon.
He owned his home in Panama City, Florida. He treasured his German Shepherd dog, Sam.
Rick’s favorite tv program was Mash. He was singing the theme song for Mash as air-medi-evac flight, Panama City to Gainsville took flight.
Cause of death: Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma 1980 – 1982
He died at the Veteran’s Hospital, Gainesville on 22 September 1982.
Richard was pre-deceased by: his father, CPO Richard Edward Stephan; his paternal grandparents Adolph Frederick and Lily May (Green) Stephan; his maternal grandfather, Charles Meckling Meek.
