Dewey Jesse Allen
WHITEVILLE - Dewey Jesse Allen, 87, of Whiteville, died Tuesday, Sept. 3, 1996, at the Columbus County Hospital.
He was the son of the late Gurley and Lillie Hardee Allen and widower of the late Mrs. Rosalie Simmons Allen.
Mr. Allen was the owner/operator of the Brunswick Billiard Parlor for over 35 years and was a former manager of the Collins Dept. Store, and during World War II he worked in the shipyard. He was also a past member of the Moose Lodge in Whiteville.
Survivors include a daughter, Shirley Allen Martin of Loris, S.C.; sister Rita Allen Collins of Charlotte;and a brother, William G. Allen Jr. of Charlotte; granddaughters, Gayle George of Raleigh, Joni Der Cola of Charleston, S.C., Christi George of Philadelphia, Pa.; and for Great grandchildren.
Services will be Thursday, September 5, 1996, at McKenzie Mortuary Chapel at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Stephen Bailey Officiating, with burial following in the Whiteville Memorial Cemetery.
